The Promise

In a dream I once had, I and another person were walking around in an empty warehouse. It was a medium sized space aligned with empty shelves that stretched from the floor to the ceiling. We stopped and asked ourselves, “How are we going to fill up this warehouse?” With our clipboards in hand and the daunting task before us, we immediately began to strategize how to make our dream into reality.

Moments later, when we finally looked up from our clipboards, we realized that people were starting to file into the warehouse in droves. Then while that was happening, we looked around and realized that the once empty shelves were now overflowing with fruit and vegetables. In fact, there was so much of it that they were spilling over and we had to catch them in small wicker baskets. As we looked all around at this miracle that materialized before us we were suddenly filled with joy from the Holy Spirit. Finally, we had reaped the fruits of our labor.

John 15:7-8 says, “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given to you. This is to my father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”

Often times it feels like you are working so hard but not yielding any fruit. Everyday you see an empty warehouse with empty shelves. However, what God promised you will come to pass. Don’t give up because of the time it’s currently taking to see any results. God would have never put that dream in your heart if he didn’t want you to live it. So keep grinding and keep working because eventually you will look up from all of your hard work and finally see the fruits of your labor.
